Darrel Wijaya to speak on GameFi panel at Web3WeekAsia 2024

In a post on 7 November 2024, Creo Engine, the company behind the $CREO token, announced that its CTO and co-founder, Darrel Wijaya, would take the main stage at Web3WeekAsia 2024. He was to appear alongside fellow Web3 speakers including Ronald Widjaya of ChainQuadrant ($CQUAD) and Arief Widhiyasa of Confiction Labs.

Web3WeekAsia 2024 was designed to unlock Web3 opportunities through creativity, technology and mass adoption, with Crypto Market Adoption 2025 as its central theme. Within that programme, the panel featuring Wijaya was to explore whether GameFi is a fad or the future, examining the sustainability and growth of GameFi in the next bull cycle. The panel was scheduled for the first day of the event, during the fourth session.

The session set out to analyse how GameFi had transformed since its peak and to assess its growth potential. The panelists were also to tackle critical challenges facing the sector, including token sustainability, user retention and building genuinely engaging gameplay.

According to the company, Wijaya's personal view was that GameFi had reached a critical turning point, shifting from a focus on monetary gain to providing immersive experiences that players genuinely enjoy. The post added that, with major gaming companies entering the space, GameFi would emphasise fun and engagement as the keys to mainstream success.

Other key discussion points on the agenda included insights drawn from early successes such as Axie Infinity, and an evaluation of GameFi's future potential to provide earnings for players, token holders and developers. The panel was also set to examine innovative tokenomics models and strategic approaches for long-term sustainability.
